I Heart Succulents

The darling of the California garden, the succulent is a plant we love.  Remember the song about never raining in California?  That's what makes the succulent the plant du jour.  With our limited water resources, the thoughtful gardener will use plants which need less water such as succulents.  Succulents can grow during spring and summer with a weekly watering.

Happy Monday Morning, Mr. Snake

Sleeping Snake at Garden Inn.

I would have left a chocolate mint if I knew you were spending the night.
Every morning I walk out the kitchen door for a morning garden inspection.  Right out the door this morning was my slithering friend.  I'm not sure what a rattlesnakes skin is like, but I quickly checked the tail.  No rattle.  The good news is a snake in the garden probably keeps away little rodents.  The bad new is a snake in the garden also keeps away the gardener.  YIKES!

Bell Peppers: A Study in Red

Large Red Bell Pepper with Small Green Bell Pepper

Red Bell Pepper with Leaf

Red Bell Pepper, Harvested
Two pepper plants survived the winter in my California Garden.  One plant is a bell pepper plant; the other is a pimento pepper.  The colors are amazing as they are turning from green to red.

My Delicious Grape Tomato Volunteer

Perfect in every way
Tomatoes from the gardent
A Quick Rinse
Thank goodness for my volunteer.  I am having my fill of these bite-sized tomatoes while I wait for the Beefsteak, Better Boys and Champions to mature on the vine.

Hello Kitty!

This beautiful cat with his little bell loves to hang around outside my office window.  Sometimes he chases the wildlife (birds, lizards) and I give the window glazing a firm tap to remind him he, like the other wildlife in my yard must play nice.
