Cinderblock Strawberries

Discovered this great little garden wall today.  Very clever use of the space in the cinderblock to become a place to plant a strawberry.

Inside Sundays--House Plants with Pizzazz

Dramatic planting of succulents in clear glass container with sand creating visual interest.

Succulents don't make the best houseplants as they LOVE sunlight.  They also love to be in containers which drain quickly.  While this example flies in the face of these two important facts, I still must say I love the whimsical presentation of this arrangement.

This example is from a lovely local hotel.  No doubt they have a staff prepared to whisk this planting away when it gets too leggy from lack of sun.  Hopefully, these will be replanted in the outdoors where they will thrive.

Classic Colors--Classic Design

I snapped a photo of this great garden from a Ralph Lauren ad.  This garden design is brilliant at pulling in classic green/blue tones using potted boxwoods (classic) and umbrella.  The teak wood is a nice warm color which is echoed in the terra cotta pots.

Barking Up the Wrong Tree

I always find tree bark incredibly interesting.  As I was leaving a building yesterday, I noticed this great palm tree with it's furry-looking bark.

Clivia in Bloom

It's that time of year for the clivia to start blooming.  They are so striking with their deep green leaves and trumpet shaped blooms welcoming the of brighter, longer daytime hours.
