Flowers Go Wild When You Go Waterwise

When you go waterwise or California Friendly in your garden, you get a benefit beyond saving water.  I was at the nursery yesterday and found these two beautiful plantings.  This photo was taken at Roger's Gardens and they have planted most of their grounds in waterwise plants.  I'm feeling inspired.

Stunning Succulent in Terra Cotta Container

Replace your flowering plants with succulents this summer.  This stunning container is composed of Aeonium (dark purple black rosette), Elephant Bush/Elephant Food Plant (tall, small leaf folliage on reddish stems), senecio/"fish hook" (trailing), Echeveria Lipstick (rosettes w/green leaves with reddish pink edges).  One plant unidentified.

Changing Landscapes in Zone 23

The plantings in the neighborhood are changing as we all do our part in conserving water.  These jumbo succulents are magnificent to see.  They are set in front of a backdrop of iceberg roses (which when established are waterwise) and California Pepper Trees!

Statice--A Beauty in the Garden that can be Dried for Arrangements

White "true" flowers grow inside the papery bracts.

Statice is a drought tolerant plant for your #waterwise garden.  This plant likes sun, well drained soil and gets by with very little supplemental water. The colorful bracts which hold small white flowers sit on tall stalks which can be cut and dried.  In many California gardens, this can be a perennial.
