Bergeniacordifolia I'm always on the lookout for shade loving plants. I found this plant in a landscape near some retail shops. It likes partial to full shade with medium water. The leaves turn purple in the fall.

I love this plant. When I first moved to Southern California, it seems like it was in every garden. Then it fell out of favor and you only saw it at homes where people hadn't changed their landscaping in decades.
It deserves to be rediscovered. It's easy as well as pretty.
