Squash? Cantalope? Do you recognize this plant?

This little plant sprung up in the garden over the spring.  Clearly, a seed meant for the composter, made its way to the garden.  I don't think this is zucchini; leaves too rounded.  I'll be watching for the first blossoms to set fruit and report on what it is.

Blooming Artichoke

The artichoke blooms.  You can see it is related to the thistle when it blooms.

Thinking about Succulents

I'm planning a succulent garden addition.  Looking around for inspiration.

Rainbows in Southern California

Lovely rain on Thursday and Friday.  As the storm broke the first day, the sun came through and created a lovely rainbow in the Eastern Sky.

Gardenias are in Bloom

The gardenia bushes around my front door started to bloom last weekend and now there are scores of blooms.  Their fragrance is thick and warm and inviting.
