Colorful Cactus adds to Interest in the Garden

I've posted cactus in bloom which sports beautiful pink flowers.  I like this cactus with its pads of  pink and purple hues.  Landscaping can be more interesting if the specimen has depth of color.
Gradient colors from blue green to yellowish pink make this an interesting specimen for the garden landscape.

Cactus Planet

Cactus can look stark in certain landscapes.  The planting of this hillside is more like you are on a lush alien planet.

Stone Walkway

Sometimes the most striking thing about a garden is right under your feet.  The design and detailed execution of this walkway are amazing.  This path is mortar and stone.  Other times, it makes sense to use plant material when creating a walkway to add softness or interest.

Stunning Pairing of Old Fashioned and Architectural--Pink and Green: Always a favorite

  • Discovered this lovely pairing of coleus and orchid.  So fresh and bright for July!  The brilliantly colored leaves of the coleus pair so nicely with the bold upright orchid.

Pink Rose

Found this beauty blooming while walking the dog.  Fragrance was subtle but sweet.

Unknown Squash

My unknown squash continues to grow.  It is looking like a white pumpkin.  BUT some of the fruit are shaped less like a pumpkin and more like butternut squash.  We can only wait and watch to see how things continue to develop.  I love volunteers.

Bloom to Seed--Onion

Pom-pom style bloom on an onion in the garden.
After the bloom fades, the small black seeds appear as the dry papery remains pop open.
I've actually harvested the seeds of onions before and had success in having them grow.  I think this one is ready for harvesting.  A good shake should release the seeds.

White, Pinks, and Purples on Display
