Onions for Spring

I planted some onions in the winter in my garden. They have grown steadily through the months. Now, some of the onions are blooming. These onions are both green and purple/red. I've roased some of them and diced some for inclusion in recipes.

Do you know the variety of these onions? They're beautiful. Are the mild or stronger tasting that the regular green onion? Thanks

I don't know the variety. I often by starts from the local nursery. Whatever they have that looks interesting is what I buy. The taste the same as green onions.

We planted both red and yellow onions in our garden this year. So far, they are looking good. We won't get to harvest until mid summer though.

I was hoping you'd be back, since we've had such nice -? -wonderful garden weather lately. Sorry for my garbled message on artichokes.
Have you tried garlic? I put out some cloves when no rational idiot would try planting anything - winter - they grew but now they look pathetic, no bulbs, just trying to lie flat, only some scrawny leaves, sorta begging to be pulled out of their misery. If you have had success, how did you did you do it?

I've been in remodeling mode for the past year. We are winding up the project. Waiting now for the sidewalk near my veggie garden and the irrigation system to be restored. Then, I can return to gardening. Currently, I am hand watering the entire landscape because stucco isn't curing properly. I'll be back to blogging once I complete these final hurdles. :)
