Keeping Cool with Cucumbers

Oh, we're having a heat wave.  But you can possibly keep cool with these photos of cucumbers from my garden!

This cucumber looks ready to harvest.

Baby cucumber ready to grow.

Too hot.  Baked in the sun and heat.

I had to include this final cucumber.  Yesterday was so hot, some of the veggies were baked.  Sad face.

Cucumbers Growing and Blooming

Delicate flowers of the cucumber vine open early in the morning.  Their petals become translucent with the bright California sun shining on them.  These specimens are vigorously growing and reaching for the sunlight with tendrils seeking out steadying twine.

Crazy Long Cucumber

This is one long cucumber.  I have had great success so far with my cucumber plants.  This is the third I've harvested in the past week.

Just What's Growing On Here?

The garden is a busy place and each morning I am pleased to see something new which is growing.

Purple Eggplant

Just a peek at the cucumber

Guinness World Records--World's Longest Tendril?

Almost 12 inches long!

World's Longest Tendril?

Go for it. You can do it.  Stretch.  You made it!

This cucumber plant sent out a tendril and never gave up hope that it would come into contact with something to cling to.

Cucumber--Staying Cool in the Shade

The cucumber plant has been growing and tucked away under all of the leaves is this lovely specimen. I think a pickled cucumber salad is in my future.
