Save a tree--remove your name from mailing lists

The service which provides recycling to our city had a great insert with their last bill. It was a list of eight companies which can help remove your name from junk mail and telemarketing lists. Their advice is to include phone number as well as name and address. Additionally, if you want to limit junk mail from previous owners or other family members, include the phrase"please cover all other addresses at this address."

In the flyer from CR&R, they state that "each year, more than 4 million tons of junk mail is produced", and that "the average household receives 100 pounds of junk mail a year." This junk mail equals "1.5 trees" per household.
