Poppies

Poppies are magnificent in spring. The boast both another worldly bud and a shockingly bright blossom. These flowers are from the police station in Laguna Beach, not far from my home.

Editor's Note: Thanks kind readers for educating me on poppies!

How showy! Blue-orange and blue-yellow are among my favorite color combinations in the garden. :) Thanks for sharing these beauties with us.

You have a beautiful and colorful garden. Those beautiful poppies look more like icelandic poppies rather than Eschscholzia californica.

I think Ki is right. California poppies don't have that ruffly look to the petals and the leaves are ferny-looking. But these are really pretty, especially with the blue pansies.

ahh, yes...if anyone is interested in seeing native California Poppies, I have photos of them in my wildflower post(s)...stop by and take a peek. Still, that sure is a beautiful color combo of the photo above.
