Garden Bloggers Bloom Day

Today is my first Bloom day.  I found three wonderful blooms to share.  The first is calla lilies.  These are wonderful plants. They love the location and put on a show to beat the band.  Next is lavetera maritima.  I love the way you can see the blossom's calyx through the bloom.  It appears as chartreuse star at the center.  Finally. pink Indian hawthorne.  I love the pink blossoms with the wonderful deep purple-blue berries from last year's bloom.

Calla Lilies Continue to Bloom

My patch of cala lillies are continuing to bloom. I snapped a close up of the stamen because I was intrigued by the way it looked. Definitely click on the top photo for a super close up look at the frilly stamen.

White Calla Lily Ready to Unfurl

Going away on vacation has two benefits. First, you have the fun of the vacation. Second, when you come home, your garden has all kinds of surprises for you. I returned from vacation to find my calla lilies beginning to bloom in the front flower bed. This photo shows the bloom is just beginning to unfurl.

My plants stay in the ground year round and are quite happy in their location. To my pleasant surprise, they have propagated on their own by seed.
